Book Summary

Jane Eyre is a novel which tells the story of a young girl, Jane, who is orphaned as a child. She has always felt an outcast, especially from the cruel grasp of her extended family which show her scarce amounts of love. Jane embarks on a quest of independence and self-discovery, where she finds herself at Thornfield Hall; to work for the ominous and overbearing Mr. Rochester.

Over time, Jane finds herself drawn to his character, which gradually reveals itself to be moderately kind and sensitive. Although Jane's love is strong, there are many secrets hidden in the depths of Thornfield Hall's brooding exterior. She must navigate her feelings, and how far her love really goes otherwise she might end up exiled as an outcast, in the heartbroken despair she's always known.

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”
